On 8 July, at the Polisportiva Mimmo Ferrito, the Multiplier Sport Event was held in Palermo, organised by CEIPES, the Italian Partner of the KTM Consortium.
The event aimed to involve Polisportiva Coaches in the implementation of the practices outlined in the Trainer Manual developed by the Consortium.
Five coaches reviewed the Manual, designed to support them in physical activities for children with chronic illnesses. Based on the entries and the specific needs of the children, the coaches, with the support of CEIPES, designed appropriate activities.
The event was enthusiastically attended by 20 children and their parents, with a total of about 40 participants. The children enjoyed all the planned activities and the parents provided positive feedback. Activities alternated between games, obstacle courses and discussions between children, coaches and parents. Various equipment was used, including balls, hoops, cones and steps, as well as body weight exercises and obstacle courses. After seeing and trying out all the activities, each child shared with the CEIPES staff and coaches their favourite activity and the new friends they met.
The day was a great success and received excellent feedback. The coaches were enthusiastic about the involvement of children and parents and expressed their wish to continue supporting the study and dissemination of the manual.
The official version of the Trainer Manual will soon be available online in Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Greek.
