The KTM Consortium (KidsTUMove goes Europe) has achieved a new milestone with the acceptance of an abstract at the 57th Annual Meeting of the Association for European Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC) in 2024. This work, a collaborative effort between five European partners, presents a systematic review on the positive impact of sports on children and adolescents with chronic diseases (CaAcd).

The project’s partners, including institutions from Germany, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Italy, screened over 10,000 titles and analyzed 53 primary studies. The review covered various chronic conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, and obesity, focusing on tailored sports interventions for each condition. The results demonstrated significant physical and psychological improvements, contributing to the overall well-being of the participants.

The Consortium emphasizes the importance of further initiatives to promote the health of children with chronic illnesses, advocating for inclusive and targeted sports programs to enhance their quality of life.
