In June 2024, we successfully held the KTM Multiplier Sport Event in Seville (Spain), bringing together 18 children with various chronic diseases and children without health conditions for unforgettable recreational sessions. The primary objective of this event was to test and validate the Trainer Manual developed as part of the KTM project. This manual is designed to help coaches acquire specific skills to adapt physical activities to the needs of children with various conditions, such as cancer, fibrosis, and obesity.
Throughout the event, the children participated in various adapted physical and recreational activities, demonstrating that with the right tools, everyone can enjoy and benefit from physical activity. The 10 coaches, following the guidelines of the manual, did an exceptional job adapting the activities to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants. Additionally, parents received training on the importance of physical activity adapted to chronic conditions in children. This session was extremely enriching, providing parents with knowledge and strategies to support their children in practicing exercise tailored to their specific needs.
A moment to share
The event concluded with a joint dinner where children, parents, and coaches shared a moment together, away from the worries of illness. This time of community allowed everyone to enjoy an evening where illness took a back seat, strengthening the bonds of support and community. The day was a resounding success and a rewarding experience for all involved. The coaches demonstrated the effectiveness of the developed manual, the children enjoyed inclusive activities, and the parents gained valuable insights for their children’s care. We thank all the participants and collaborators who made this wonderful experience possible.
